5 Methods to Fix Google Play Download Pending Error
Below are the 5 methods I have used so far to fix this play store error from my android.
Method 1: Turn on and off Airplane Mode
Most times, this simple trick of switching on and off airplane has helped clear the play store download pending error and resumes the app downloads. To do this, just go to settings or tabs and turn on or off airplane ✈ mode while your data is switched ON.
Method 2: Clear Google Play store data
Clearing the data of apps can help fix many problems and bugs including this play store error.
Just go to Settings in your Android phone and head over to the Apps section and then switch to “All install apps.
Then scroll down to Google Play Store app and then tap on Clear Data and Clear Cache. By simply clearing cache will help you fix the download pending problem in Play Store.
Note that you may need to sign in again to your google account because all play store settings will be lost when you clear data.
Method 3: Uninstall Google Play store Update
Another method of getting over this annoying error is to uninstall play store updates. You can do this by going to settings >> tap on Apps >> Scroll down until you see Google Plays store apps, click on it. Then disable or force stop, just click on disable and you are good to go.
Method 4: Remove your Google Play Account completely.
This method is similar to method 2 above because your google account will be deleted and you will need to log in again. You can remove your Play Store account by going to Settings and heading over to Accounts >> Google >> selecting your account and then removing it from your device. Once you login again, the error should be cleared.
Method 5: Cancel All Download Pending app
Note that Google Play Store is set to auto-update apps by default, so there is every chances that all the applications on your smartphone will want to update at the same time once you are connected to internet… in this case, go to Play Store >> click on My apps, & games and cancel all applications currently updating except the app you want to download.
Method 6: Disable VPN
If you are using a VPN, it may interfere with your connection to the Google Play Store. Disable the VPN temporarily and try downloading the app again.
Method 7: Remove and Re-add Your Google Account
Removing and re-adding your Google account can help resolve issues related to syncing or authentication. To remove your Google account:
- Go to Settings > Accounts or Accounts & Sync.
- Select Google and tap on your account.
- Tap Remove Account. To add it back:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Add Account > Google, and follow the instructions to add your Google account again.
Method 8: Check Background Downloads
If you have multiple downloads or updates queued up, the “Download Pending” error may occur because the Play Store is trying to handle too many processes at once. Go to Play Store > My Apps & Games and check if there are other apps waiting to be updated or downloaded. If necessary, cancel some of them to free up space for the one you’re trying to download.
Method 9: Update the Device’s Software
Sometimes, the issue could be related to an outdated operating system on your device. Make sure your Android OS is up-to-date. Go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install (if an update is available).
Method 10: Factory Reset (Last Resort)
If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a factory reset as a last resort. However, this will erase all data from your device, so ensure you back up important files before proceeding. Go to Settings > System > Reset > Factory Data Reset.
In summary, the “Download Pending” error on the Google Play Store can be caused by a variety of factors such as network issues, app cache problems, or insufficient storage space. The steps above should help you identify and fix the issue. If none of the steps resolve the problem, it may be a more specific issue with your device or account, and contacting Google Support could be the next best step.
