MTN has silently introduced a cheap data plan for her subscribers in Nigeria. In the new plan, you will get MTN 2.5 for N500 on your old SIM and even a whopping 5GB for just N500 on new SIM cards. However, the data is valid for just 2 days (e.i. 48 hours).

How to Activate New MTN 2.5GB for N500 Plan

To activate or subscribe to MTN 2.5GB for N500 data plan, download MyMTN app, login with your MTN number, click on “hot deals” and select “daily” and you will see the 2.5GB for N500 plan in the list. Click on it to activate as seen in the image below.

To enjoy double of this offer, then get a new MTN SIM (4G SIM preferably), activate this plan on it and you will get 5GB instead of 2.5 GB, that’s called double data.

Don’t forget that this is not the only awoof or cheap data plan that MTN offers, for instance, you get free 500mb when you download MyMTN app. There is also MyMTN App referral program where you can get free 2GB worth of internet data just for inviting your friends or others to install and use MyMTN mobile app.

Other MTN data plans on the same page with the newly added 2.5GB for 500 Naira are;

  • 25MB for N50 daily plan
  • 35mb for N50 daily plan for subscribers on betatalk tariff
  • 100mb for N100 daily plan
  • 200mb for N200 two days plan
  • 750mb for N300 three days plan
  • 1GB for N350 one day plan
  • 2.5GB for N500 two days plan.

Recall that Glo has launched 7GB for N500 weekly data plan which still better than the 6GB for N1500 that both MTN and Airtel offers.

We are in the smartphone era and virtually everyone now uses Smartphones which requires internet to work very well. So data is a necessity. Little wonder data providers are releasing series of data plan options to suit just about everybody.

However, I wish the new MTN 2.5GB for N500 plan validity can be extended to 7 days, it would have been perfect. You can check other MTN data plans to see more alternative data options. What do you think?
