Although some fraudsters use this call blocking service hide away from people they have duped but my intention here is to educate people who their intent is to use it rightly.

There are several ways to block a number from calling you on MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile and I will show you the best methods that works perfectly like a charm.

You can block a contact from calling you using your network call blocking service or doing it directly from your phone, be it Android, iOS or Windows phone.

Therefore, you will also learn how to block a number from calling you on Android, iOS or Windows phone.

Note that when you block a number (contact), they won’t be able to reach you through calls or text messages again.

How to Block a Number from Calling You on MTN

There are several ways to block a number from calling your MTN line.

Using Truecaller App

To block a number from calling you on MTN follow these rules;

  • Tap on settings.

  • From the options, select “block“.

  • Now tap the plus ➕ symbol and select “block a number” to add a number to your blocked list.

  • Once added, the number will not be able to successfully call you again.

NOTE: Truecaller app gives you options to block top spammers, block hidden numbers, block foreign numbers, block numbers not in phone book, block spoofing numbers, block advertising agents and so on.

This method can be used to block both international numbers and local numbers.

You can also block numbers from sending SMS to you.

Using Call Baring Service

Another method is by using “call barring” service from MTN.

To use call baring, change the default barring PIN by dialing *03*330*0000*New PIN*Repeat New PIN#

Now, to bar all incoming calls (block all numbers from calling your MTN line), dial *35*PIN# on your MTN line.

However, to cancel call baring, dial *35*PIN#.

Dial *#35# to know the status of call baring on your MTN line.

Using USSD Code

You can actually block a number from calling you by dialing this USSD code *35*0000* PHONE NUMBER# and click on SEND.

For example: If you want to block this number 08123456789 from calling your line, then type it like this *35*0000*08123456789# and SEND.

Ones you send it, the person won’t be able to reach you again via calls.

How to Unblock a Blocked Number

To unblock a number you have already blocked on MTN, just dial this code on your phone *35*0000# and SEND and this will cancel every blocked contact on the list.

How to Block a Number from Calling You on Airtel

For Airtel, the best method is to install Truecaller app.

Open the app and click on the 3-dotted lines at the top right corner. Select settings and click on “Block“, then click the plus ➕ sign and add the number you want to block from calling you on Airtel.

Another method is using USSD Code.

To do that simply dial *03*330*old barring code*new barring code*new barring code#.

For instance, if you want to change from the default pin 0000 to 1234, you will dial *03*330*0000*1234*1234#.

How to Block a Number from Calling You on Glo

You can also block numbers on Glo using truecaller but if you want to use a USSD code, follow the instructions below.

To block all incoming national calls, dial *35*barring code#; while, to deactivate, dial #35*barring code#.

To bar outgoing calls to national numbers (in Nigeria), dial *33*barring code#; and to deactivate, dial #33*barring code#.

To bar incoming calls when roaming, dial *351*barring code#; and to cancel, dial #351*barring code#.

To bar outgoing calls for international numbers, dial *331*barring code#; and to cancel, dial #331*barring code#.

Just as it’s done on other networks, you can also use Truecaller app to block calls from getting to your Glo line.

Another method is using USSD code.

To block call, dial *35*PIN#

To cancel, dial *#35*PIN# and send.

Added numbers will not be able to call you again.

How to Block Calls from Third-party Ads Partners

Have you been receiving disturbing unsolicited SMS (messages) from third-party ads partners and wish to stop receiving calls or messages from them?

To block calls from third-party MTN partners, activate Do Not Disturb (DND) on your line.

To activate DND, SMS “STOP” to 2442.

Universal Code to Block a Number from Calling You

Summary

To unblock all the numbers blocked from calling you, dial *35*0000# and SEND.
