Android Wear is probably the best smartwatch platform on the market. The update to Android Wear 2.0 has added a lot of really cool features, like standalone apps. There is still a lot of work to be done, but there are some decent apps available right now!
Here are the best Android Wear apps. Also, they should all be compatible with Android Wear 2.0! In early 2018, Google changed the name from Android Wear to Wear OS. Everything works basically the same, but with a new name.
In this post, we will look at the best applications for the Wear OS which is the most popular and better Operating System used in most Smartwatches.
The Best Android Wear Apps for SmartWatches
1. AccuWeather
AccuWeather is one of the few Android Wear apps with 2.0 support. The app applies all the basics including current temperature, weather forecast, radar, weather alerts, and smaller stats like humidity, wind speed, etc.
It works well on Android Wear and on your mobile device. There are not many downsides. Most application problems are temporary. The free version is ad-supported. You can pay for the pro version to remove it. Otherwise, the two versions are basically the same.
2. Google Maps
Google Maps is another easy option for the best Android Wear apps. It’s probably the best navigation app on the platform. It is definitely the best navigation app on a smartwatch platform. Most of the functionality is the same as the smartphone version.
This includes directions, information on local businesses, and more. It is true that it is a bit difficult to follow the instructions on your wrist while driving. We encourage our readers to use the utmost caution when using this app on the road. We have no doubt that it will continue to improve overall and on Wear OS.

3. Google Play Music
Google Play Music was one of the first Android Wear applications. Stay among the best. The Android Wear version allows you to control music, listen to content and chat with other elements of the service. The design of the phone app is not great.
It sounds amazing, but there are tons of touches and slides to get you where you need to go. The Android Wear version feels a lot better in comparison. Some parts of the application are free to use (including the song download function).

4. Podcast Republic
Podcast Republic is one of the few podcast apps on Android Wear. It has a large library of video and audio podcasts. It also includes automatic downloads, multiple playlists, sync support, multi-language support, and SD card support.
The Android Wear version of the app isn’t that robust, but it’s okay. It still works quite well. The free version contains advertising. The paid version does not. That is pretty much the only difference between the two.

5. Pulse SMS
Pulse SMS is among the best texting apps available. Android Wear has superficial support for SMS. However, Pulse SMS provides assistance between your phone, computer, and watch. It is the only SMS application that we know of that supports all three platforms.
It also features a decent layout, repeat notifications, GIF support, archive, blacklists, message scheduling, dual SIM support, and more. You can use the phone app for free. Getting help on other platforms involves a subscription service or a one-time payment. We recommend a one-time payment.

6. RunKeeper
Runkeeper is one of the most popular fitness apps. It also has one of the best Android Wear apps. The app keeps track of your run and exercise. You can set goals for weight loss, running pace, and more. It is also compatible with cycling and practically any other activity besides running. The Android Wear app is a nice extension of the main service.
Like most people, it does not have all the functions. However, you’ve had enough. However, the full experience requires a subscription and we think it costs a bit. Strava and Lifesum are also great Android Wear apps in this space. Of course, if you want it for free, Google Fit is still the best free fitness app for Wear OS.
7. Calculator
This Calculator is an extended version of the stock calculator Android application. Obviously, it does the basics like arithmetic and some algebra. The app also includes graphing calculator functionality, equation history, and of course Wear OS compatibility.
It also looks a lot like the standard app. The Wear OS version is a bit tight, but it works fine. Also, this app is open source in case you want to see what makes it work. It’s pretty good when it comes to calculator apps. However, it is arguably the best calculator for Wear OS.
8. Bring! Shopping list
Bring is a shopping list app. The app comes with a good design, lots of options, and Android Wear compatibility. You can create separate lists for separate activities. In addition, it uses a card and mosaic design. It looks better than most other grocery app lists. There are plenty of note-taking apps on Android Wear, but this one is very lovely.
9. Audiobooks.com
Audiobooks.com is one of the largest audiobook apps. Offers a collection of over 100,000 audiobooks. There are also more than 7,000 free selections.
Other features include variable read speeds, Android Auto support, and of course Android Wear support. You get a free audiobook with an additional purchase option at a discounted rate. We’re not a huge fan of subscription publishing services, but this one works fine on Android Wear 2.0.
10. Wear OS by Google
Wear OS is the official Google application. You need to pair your smartwatch with your smartphone. Also, the app contains things like settings for Google Assistant, Google Fit, and other items. However, its most important features are its applications and facial information.
The app is a great directory for those things. Google Play does a good job, but this app gets you going faster. The Google Assistant comes with Wear OS.
We recommend that you use it as well. You can do all the fun things you can on your phone, except on your wrist. Also, you can take notes, turn smart lights on or off, etc. Wear OS is basically the Google Assistant on your wrist with the time and date.
These are the best apps or must-have apps for any device running on the Google Wear OS. Do you know of any other apps that should be mentioned or included in this list? Use the comments box to let us know.
